5 ways to celebrate a neurodivergent brain
As part of Neurodiversity Celebration week, Neurodivergent Family Coach, Kate from the Chirpy Collective, has shared 5 ways to help celebrate your neurodivergent child's brain.
1) Validate your neurodivergent child's perspective and experiences of the world, even if they are different to yours or your other children.
2) Focus on your child's strengths whenever possible and nurture their passions and special interests.
3) Embrace your neurodivergent child's unique communication style and preferences for play and socialising, with other children, adults and family members.
4) Affirm your child's sensory preferences/needs and create a supportive environment for them at home adding in regulation tools and accommodations. This might look different to your other children, and that is okay!
5) Advocate for your neurodivergent child's needs and encourage their self-advocacy. You child being confident in their own neurodivergent identity and being able to advocate for their own needs is the goal!
